Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Living Root ("we," "us," or "our"), a publication operated by ZN Digital Ventures LLC, collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit livingroot.online (the "Site") or subscribe to our newsletter. Please read it alongside our Cookie Notice and Terms of Use.
1. Who we are
The Site is operated by ZN Digital Ventures LLC, a limited liability company organized in the State of Wyoming, United States. Our mailing address is 525 Randall Ave, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001, United States. For any question about this policy or your personal information, email us at contact@livingroot.online.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Newsletter subscription. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and the date and time of your subscription.
- Correspondence. If you email us, we collect your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our hosting provider, analytics tools, and advertising partners may automatically collect technical information, including your IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, referring website, the pages you view, the time and duration of your visit, and the links you click. Some of this information is collected using cookies and similar technologies, described in Section 4.
Sensitive information
Please do not send us sensitive information such as health conditions, medical records, financial account numbers, or government identifiers. The Site is an informational publication: the only information you can submit is an email address for the newsletter and any message you choose to send us.
3. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, and secure the Site.
- To send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to let you unsubscribe at any time.
- To respond to your messages, including corrections, privacy requests, and general inquiries.
- To understand how readers use the Site, so we can improve articles, navigation, and readability.
- To measure the performance of advertising campaigns that bring readers to the Site, including campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. Cookies, analytics, and advertising pixels
The Site uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies. These fall into three groups:
- Essential preferences. We use your browser's local storage to remember whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies, and whether you have chosen larger text. These settings stay on your device and are not transmitted to us.
- Analytics. We may use analytics services that set cookies or use similar identifiers to measure page views, traffic sources, and reader behavior in aggregate. These services process your IP address and the technical information described above on our behalf.
- Advertising and measurement pixels. We may use third-party advertising technologies, including the Meta Pixel (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.) and comparable tools from other advertising platforms, to measure whether readers who see our advertisements visit the Site and to build audiences for future campaigns. These pixels may set cookies and may collect your IP address, browser information, and the pages you view, and, if you are logged in to the relevant platform, may associate your visit with your account on that platform. Meta's use of this information is governed by Meta's own privacy policy and data practices, which we do not control.
Our Cookie Notice describes these technologies in more detail, including how to manage them through the cookie bar on the Site and through your browser settings. Declining optional cookies does not affect your ability to read any article.
5. How we share information
Your email address and correspondence are shared only with the service providers that help us run the Site. We share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. Hosting and content delivery providers, email delivery services for the newsletter, and analytics providers, each of which processes information on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Advertising platforms. As described in Section 4, advertising pixels transmit technical and behavioral information to platforms such as Meta. Under some state privacy laws, this kind of disclosure for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out as described in Section 7.
- Legal requirements. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers. If ZN Digital Ventures LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
6. Data retention
We keep newsletter email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you and to maintain a record of corrections and requests, typically no longer than three years. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the retention settings of the respective providers, which we configure to the shortest period that meets our measurement needs.
7. Your rights under U.S. state privacy laws (including CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to request a copy.
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and of certain profiling.
- Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@livingroot.online with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will verify your request using the email address associated with your information and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. To opt out of the sharing described in Section 4, decline optional cookies using the cookie bar on the Site, enable the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, or email us at the address above. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law.
8. Your rights in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland
If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases: your consent (for optional cookies and the newsletter), our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, responding to correspondence, and measuring the reach of our publication), and compliance with legal obligations. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, email contact@livingroot.online.
9. International transfers
The Site is operated from the United States, and information we collect is processed in the United States and in the countries where our service providers operate. Data protection laws in these countries may differ from those in your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for transfers from the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is written for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the Site and limited access to newsletter and correspondence data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
12. Third-party links and fonts
Articles link to external websites, primarily public health institutions and medical organizations. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and for which we are not responsible. The Site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, a service of Google LLC; when your browser requests a font file, Google receives your IP address and standard request information under Google's privacy policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
